Hi, my name is Alan and I am a geek. Actually, not so much a “geek”, but more a “Geek” – an ‘alpha geek’. If you know me then I am the image that comes to mind when the word ‘geek’ is bandied about in casual conversation.

“Alan who?”. “The Geek”. “Oh, that Alan”.

It gets worse though – as well as being gadget mad, and the sort of person who has a loft full of old consoles, random PC components and all the boxes that they originally came in, I also play “World of Warcraft” and “Magic: The Gathering”.

Despite that, I still manage to interact with normal people. I have a job helping manage the customer facing IT support desks at FindaProperty.com and Primelocation.com. I have a family with kids ranging in age from 19 down to 2 and a half, a three bed semi in suburbia, a people carrier and a crippling mortgage. Life is good, normal, routine, comfortable.

So why am I volunteering to take part in a high profile art experiment in front of a potentially huge audience? Who knows – applying seemed like a good idea at the time and I never for a moment though I would be picked.

What am I going to do when I take part? Now that is the big question that I will hopefully answer here.
